I want to get buffalo grass started. The main place that I want to over seed is planted with tall fescue and is on a steep hill. Can I just over seed and the buffalo grass will take over the fescue or do I have to kill the fescue first?

I bought from you and planted some buffalo grass last year. It came up fine and I was very happy with it, but this sping and as of today it hasn't retuned. It just looks like dead grass. Do I need to water it to get it to come back?

I planted a mixture of prairiegrasses and wildflowers in the spring of 2008. Should I mow them down now ( march 25,2009).

Hi,
Do you have a grass that will grow in full shade and underneath pine trees. I have tried Scotts shady seed as well as a few others and have not had much luck. It grows well for a couple of months but then starts to deteriorate and does not come back the following year. It seems that the moss grows better than the grass. Water is not an issue. The soil has been limed and also treated with a moss control fertilizer on numerous occasions. I probably should just go with a ground cover but I would rather have some kind of grass that a can just mow. Is there a miracle grass that will grow as well as the moss does?
Thanks
Mike

I live in Northern Nevada and want a lawn that is drought tolerent and low main. I want to cover 5,000 sq ft I am at the 5,100 feet and my zone and the winters are harsh and long. Completely different then the City of Reno which is in a low valley, I am up in the mountains. So will Buffalo grass work here?

Two questions. (a) Is the Cody Buffalograss that I have ordered from you already treated with potassium nitrate or will I need to do that? (b) Can I plant the seeds for my buffalo grass/blue grama mixture in Northern California in the spring (after frost) or do I need to wait until my daytime temperatures get into the 80's?

Since broadcasting my seeds (backyard retreat mix, little bluestem blaze, and noreastern wildflower mix) in my garden/flower bed last weekend, we, in southeast Pennsylvania have had enough rain twice to cause standing water of a few inches, for 2-3 days at a time a few days apart in parts of the garden/ flower bed. Will the seeds grow, rot or need to be reseeded? What do you suggest? Thank you - Renee Essary

Hello, we want to reclaim a former gravel pit using warm season grasses, and use it for grazing beef cattle once it is established. The area is 4.5 acres, steep sloping walls with a flat bottom. Soils are excessively drained loamy sands. Thanks!

We live about 1/2 mile inland from Lake Michigan high on a sand dune. We would like to get some drought tolerant, low maintenance grass going in a flat area that is mainly weeds now. We don't intend to mow, just let it go. Are we too far north for buffalo grass? If so, can you recommend another type for us?
Thanks!
