Perennial legume that is adapted to many soil types. Makes good growth on heavy loam soils and also tolerates shady, gravel sites. Good salt-tolerance which makes it good for roadside mixtures and in alkaline areas. Its large taproot and dense crown of stems make it a good erosion control plant. Stays green during summer and produces small, yellow flowers. Does well in mixtures and is bloat-resistant for grazing purposes. Spring or fall seeding. Perennial.
