Virginia Wildrye is very unique among prairie grasses. It is a native cool-season, bunch grass that grows best in moist soils, tolerates upland sites, and likes shade or full sun. It is widely adapted throughout the U.S. and the patented O’ma’ha variety has improved seedling vigor and stability in a wide range of soil conditions.
This is a medium height grass that has beardless heads that remain upright at maturity. It can be planted alone or in pasture, habitat, or floodplain mixtures. Palatability and nutrition are very good when hayed or grazed before heading.
