Also known as Blunt Broom Sedge, Awl Fruited Oval Sedge is a perennial sedge reaching 1-3 feet tall. It can tolerate a wide range of soil types but prefers moist conditions with full sun or light shade and it can adapt well to disturbed areas. Alw Fruited Oval Sedge is commonly found in wet meadows, swamps, near ponds and lakes, or in ditches. Upland game birds, waterfowl, and some songbirds have been known to feed on the seeds of this sedge.
