Also known as Bicknell's Sedge, Copper Shouldered Oval Sedge is non-typical of sedges in that it prefers more of an upland environment that is medium-dry to medium wet as opposed to wetland type environments.  It likes clay, loam, peat, and sand. Full sun is the preferred environment. This sedge is useful in rain gardens, bio-retention areas, banks & slopes, sedge meadows, and garden plantings.

**This species is listed as endangered in Maine, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
