Idaho Fescue is a cool-season, drought-tolerant perennial bunchgrass. Does best in deep, fertile, heavy soils, but will occur on thin well-drained coarse sites as well. Seedlings are not competitive but established stands can be competitive. It has thin bluish-green leaves and usually grows to between 2 and 3 feet tall. This grass is considered to have good palatability for both livestock and wildlife. It's drought-resistance and strong seedling vigor makes It a good candidate for erosion control or reclamation, but it does not do well against competitive, introduced grasses.

**Increase the seeding rate for erosion control to 6-8 PLS lbs/ac.
