Hop Sedge is a bunch type sedge that is shade tolerant but has little drought tolerance. It prefers medium to wet soils. Can be used onramentally, but also povides food and cover for wildlife. It can grow up to 3' - 4' tall and the seed heads are spikey in appearance. The large seed head are a food source for ducks and other wildlife. Hop Sedge would work well around ponds or for shoreline restoration.
