About Canada Wildrye
Canada Wildrye is a cool season native, bunch grass that prefers moist sites. It has good seedling vigor and rapid spring growth that aids in easy establishment and ground cover. This grass also has some shade tolerance and can grow in sandy soil types. At maturity in July, the seed head is a nodding spike. It adds diversity to prairie mixtures and seed heads can be used in dried arrangements.
